DIVINE DESINATIONS

DIVINE DESTINATIONS

Almost all the people in India use to visit the religious places at least once in their life. Some visit to pray for fulfilling their requirements, some to fulfill their commitment towards God/Goddess, some for getting rid of sins and some other for spiritual gains.  No one can give the exact figures that how many of these are actually rewarded but for sure the number of people visiting the religious places is increasing day by day and year by year.

Once a disciple of Guru Nanak Dev Ji requested for permission for Chaar Dhaam Yatra as he wanted to be free from all sins he has committed. Guru Nanak Dev Ji blessed him and gave him a ‘Potli’ (A piece of cloth having something in it and tied with thread or rope) and directed him he must keep this ‘Potli’  all the time with him during the journey & wherever he may bath the ‘Potli’ must also be dipped. The disciple accepted the order (Aadesh) and touched the lotus feet of Guru Nanak Dev Ji before leaving for the journey.

After few days the disciple returned after completing his journey and went happily to Guru Nanak Dev Ji as usual.
So are you now free from all sins asked Guru Nanak Dev.
Yes Guru Dev, replied the disciple.
Guru Nanak Dev: Ok, where is the Potli?
Disciple: here it is.  I kept it all the times with me as per your Aadesh and also dipped in all the Holy Rivers wherever I took a bath.
Guru Nanak Dev: open it.
Disciple: yes Guru Dev.  These are Neem’s leaves in it.
Guru Nanak Dev: Yes, taste a leave. Is it sweet now?
Disciple: No Guru Dev.  It is still bitter.
Guru Nanak Dev: Even after dipping in Holy Rivers and Chaar Dhaam  Yatra?
The disciple understood the point of Guru Nanak Dev and fell in his lotus feet. Disciple: So I have not benefited at all Guru Dev?
Guru Nanak Dev: Yes you have been benefited because God is very kind and the places you have visited are where the God has shown his August Presence in physical form in one or the other way. But this benefit is a fraction which it actually should be.  Guru Nanak Dev Ji further added, if you will purify your mind and thoughts first then every place will become a divine destination where ever you will go.
